Presentation:
Synthetic Environments in Today's Air Force

LCol Rick Thompson manages an Air Force synthetic training system that combines existing defence networks, electronic learning content and delivery, and real time distributed combat simulations.  In his address to CIPS, Rick will describe why the Air Force decided to strengthen synthetic training delivery, how the delivery systems work on National Defence Networks, and what the content looks like.  Rick combines video and computer graphic images to demonstrate why these delivery mechanisms have become an essential part of the training systems used in a modern Air Force.  Rick will concentrate on the practical "shop floor" application of synthetic training, challenges to overcome, and opportunities to participate in the evolution of synthetic environment technology from linear training to electronic performance support systems.

Presenter:
LIEUTENANT COLONEL RICK THOMPSON
Project Director, Air Force Synthetic Environment Systems, Canada's Air Force
